Legacy of the Eye by C.C. Kell book cover

Legacy of the Eye is a Gothic novel centered on inheritance, not only of property and wealth, but of memory and knowledge that comes at a cost.

Following the death of her sister, Madeline “Maddie” Bennett learns she has inherited a secluded estate perched on the coast of Maine, her sister’s fortune, and something far more unsettling, an ancient amulet known as the Eye. The object has been bound to the women of her bloodline for centuries, passed down quietly and without explanation.

Encouraged by her friends, Maddie travels to Bencliff Manor to investigate the property she never knew existed, if only for a weekend. As Maddie and her companions settle into the house, the boundaries between past and present begin to erode. Portraits seem to observe more than they should. Dreams intrude upon waking thought. The Eye begins to exert its presence, awakening fragments of a history long buried but never forgotten.

Interwoven with Maddie’s experience is the historical legacy of Madeleine Bavent, a seventeenth-century French nun condemned during the Louviers possessions. Her vows, her suffering, and her defiance echo forward through time, binding two women separated by centuries through blood, knowledge, and consequence.

As Bencliff Manor reveals itself, it becomes more than a setting. The house watches, remembers, and presses inward, drawing those within its walls toward obsession, faith, and revelation. What begins as curiosity becomes confrontation, forcing Maddie to face the cost of what the Eye offers and what it demands in return.

Legacy of the Eye is a slow-burn Gothic novel steeped in history, feminine lineage, and psychological tension, where blood remembers and the Eye watches.
